+ I’ve never heard of MAKO Sunglasses before. Is this a new product?

No, in fact they’ve been available in Australia for 20+ years. We are excited to bring them to the USA and Canada for the first time in 2018. We’ve been showing off our sunglasses at a series of fishing / outdoor sports shows around the East Coast.

+ What are polarized lenses?

Glare reduction is hugely beneficial for fishing and other outdoor sports! Polarized lenses reduce glare off the water allowing you to see fish and other underwater objects clearly. Polarized lenses have an embedded filter that blocks certain bands of light to cut visible glare – Mako lenses have the highest grade of polarizing efficiency and extremely high levels of visual acuity. For even more glare reduction, Mako lenses have an industry-leading 12 anti-reflective coatings on the back of the lens to reduce backside glare.

+ How do I care for my MAKO POLARIZED Sunglasses?

First what to avoid! Do not use household cleaning products, even soap for glass cleaning!! They are not designed for eyewear lenses and some are powerful enough to wear away lens coatings. Also avoid cleaning with paper towels or your clothing (!) which can grind dust and fibers into the lenses leaving scratches. You might not see lens damage right away but over time the damage will become noticeable. So, the best way to clean your MAKO POLARIZED sunglasses is by gently rubbing them with your Mako lens cleaning cloth and a liquid cleaner designed for eyewear lenses. Always keep them in their case when not wearing them.

+ Beyond polarization, what other features do the MAKO sunglasses offer?

We are launching the MAKO sunglass collection with four distinct lens types, each meant to address certain environments and outdoor activities. Each lens has many features!! We encourage you to visit the lens page on this website to learn more about our lens offerings.
